When ordinary days became golden
Gomi was full of energy from the very start. As she grew, she became something of a giant among Yorkies — a solid 11 pounds (5kg) — so bursting with life we called her Gomi the Super Yorkie.
I photographed everything. Instagram, YouTube, all of it — I couldn't get enough of her.
Then, somewhere along the way, she just… became part of the everyday. The camera came out less. The posts got quieter. She was still there, still mine, but I'd stopped really seeing her.
When Gomi turned 11, everything changed. A serious surgery, with the risk of complications. A stubborn eye infection that simply wouldn't go away. A long, difficult recovery.
Somewhere in those weeks and months, it hit me — she could actually disappear from my life. And suddenly, every small thing she did felt achingly precious. Things I'd stopped noticing became things I couldn't look away from.
That's when I knew: the time we have left is golden, and I want to record every bit of Gomi — who is still the Super Yorkie, even if she rests a little more often now and limps from time to time.
So I picked the camera back up. And I started making this journal — not just for me, but to share these golden days with everyone who loves Gomi, and everyone loving a dog of their own.
